Equine Artist Biography:
Gary is a self taught artist who first discovered painting while recovering from a serious road accident in 1969. In the 1980's he began to exhibit in local galleries, staging some 'One Man' shows which were quite successful.
Even though he would have preferred to concentrate more on his painting the pressures of running a busy building company meant that his painting often took a back seat. Towards the end of the 90's he decided that he should begin to pursue his painting more seriously and began to exhibit at national shows gaining several awards. In spring 1997 at his first showing at the British Society of Painters Exhibition he was elected a Companion of the International Guild of Artists. By spring 1998 he had been selected to become an Associate of the British Society of Painters and also been awarded membership of the British Society of Miniaturists. In June 1998 and 1999 he was successful in being selected to exhibit at the Hilliard Society annual exhibition thereby gaining the prestigious H.S. status.
Garys paintings cover a wide range of subjects including landscapes, seascapes, animals, buildings but his main love is horses.
Being born and bred in the county of Norfolk, England he has always been close to and involved in the country way of life.
Since 2001 Gary has lived with his family in the department of the Dordorgne in South West France.
