PonyCity’s photo retouching services fall into one of two categories:

Basic Photo Retouching
PonyCity’s basic photo retouching services consist of minor changes in a photo that makes a major difference in appearance. These changes may include: color corrections, sharpening, adding depth-of-field, deleting background distractions, superficial blemish removal, spot cleaning (perfect for a white horse on a cold day), shadow reduction and many more.
Fifteen minutes is allotted to complete basic photo retouching tasks, and in most cases basic photo retouching is more than sufficient to drastically improve the quality and appearance of a photograph.

Advanced Photo Retouching
Advanced photo retouching is most commonly used for photographs intended for magazine advertising, websites and promotional materials. Advanced photo retouching is a worth-while investment when professionally marketing your horse for sale or stallion at stud.
In the photo retouching examples, you will see the tremendous difference in appeal between the before and after images. Our goal with advanced photo retouching is to make a photo jump out and “grab” potential viewers. With thousands of horses on the market, the importance of flawless, eye catching photos can not be stressed enough.
The sky is the limit with PonyCity’s advanced photo retouching… if you can dream it, we can make it happen. There is one key difference between PonyCity’s photo retouching and that of our competitors; we agonize over these photos to be absolutely positive they are seamless and do not show any trace of photo retouching.
Several of the before and after examples will show entire background replacements, thick nylon halters removed from the horses head and missing pieces of the photo recreated. Our goal is to make sure the lighting, shadows and perspectives are perfect so the photo will never be thought of as anything but an original.

The fee for advanced photo retouching is $80 per hour billed in 30 minute increments. Many of our advanced photo retouching projects take only 30 minutes to complete. The example images are more extreme than most normal projects, and most of them took at least one hour to complete.

Ethics Policy
Each year we receive a surprisingly high number of requests from equine professionals interested in our advanced photo retouching services in order to alter their horses’ appearance. We have had people want us to “shorten backs, lengthen necks, straighten legs, slim throat latches, shorten ears, widen eyes, and the list goes on…”
Can we do these things to a horse?
Yes, it’s easy.
Will we?
Absolutely, under NO circumstance whatsoever, will we alter a horse’s conformation, movement, scars, flaws or imperfections. It is unethical, dishonest and in our opinion downright disgusting that people will even ask us about “perfecting” their horse in a photograph solely for marketing purposes.
What if I don’t want to market my horse, I only want the conformation altered for my personal use and art?
In fear that someday the horse could be marketed with a photo that we consider false advertising, we will not alter ANY horse photos, no matter what the intended use may be.
My horse got a scrape on picture day, will you remove that?
Yes. If your horse has a superficial, temporary cut or scrape that is in the process of healing back to normal, we can remove it for you. If we have any doubt or suspicion that it may not be a temporary blemish, we will require a signed statement from your veterinarian that confirms your position before proceeding.
Can you retouch a photo taken by another photographer?
Yes, however, the photographer must provide a letter granting permission by email, fax or mail. The letter must clearly state their awareness of PonyCity.com altering the photograph.
